THE CENTRAL REPOSITORY FOR PUTTING IMPROVEMENT

Quantum Putting

Stop judging putts by whether they drop. Measure the pattern, find the fault, fix the process. Built on the published science of Pelz, Kenyon, Rotella and Bauer.

The Five Fundamentals

Every missed putt has a cause. Four pillars — each owned by a world authority — cover every physical cause there is. The fifth decides whether any of them survive contact with a putt that matters.

83–90%
FACE ANGLE
The face at impact controls up to 90% of your start line. The single most important number in putting. Tour standard: within half a degree.
PELZ · KENYON — SETTLED SCIENCE
11%
NATURAL ARC
Only 11% of golfers naturally produce a straight path. Don't fight the arc — keep the face quiet and square at impact instead.
KENYON · NEAL — MOTION CAPTURE
17"
SPEED
Optimum pace carries a missed putt 17 inches past the hole — enough to beat the lumpy donut, not enough to lip out. Speed beats line.
PELZ — ROLLER TESTING
~30%
GREEN READING
Amateurs see only about a third of the break that's actually there — which is why most misses finish low. Read from the side, halfway to the hole.
PELZ · BAUER — TOUR READ
SEE IT·FEEL IT·TRUST IT
THE MENTAL GAME
You own a stroke on the practice green. Then the putt matters, and a different player turns up holding the putter — hands tighter, tempo shorter, face steered. Nothing physical changed; the putt simply acquired consequences. Rotella's sequence closes that gap: see the ball tracking in, feel the pace in your hands, then trust it and let the stroke go. Amateurs manage the first two and skip the third. Doubt isn't abstract — it shows up as deceleration and a manipulated face. This is the fundamental that decides whether the other four ever reach the ball.
DR BOB ROTELLA — GOLF IS NOT A GAME OF PERFECT

"Even tour pros hole less than half beyond eight feet. Makes are noise. Dispersion is the signal."

OUR SOLUTION

Most golfers practise putting in the dark. You cannot fix what you cannot see — and the two variables that decide almost every putt, face angle at impact and speed, are invisible to the naked eye. Quantum Putting exists to switch the lights on: measure what is actually happening, diagnose the real fault, then train the process rather than chase the outcome.

The Core Offering
SAM PuttLab Analysis — In Your Own Home
Science & Motion SAM PuttLab 8 — the latest version of the putting analysis and training software
Science & Motion Sports — Certified Putting Instructor, Level 1
IN-HOME ASSESSMENT · LEVEL 1 CERTIFIED

SAM PuttLab is the measurement standard used on tour and by the world’s leading putting coaches. Ultrasound sensors track your putter through the stroke and report exactly what it is doing — to a fraction of a degree, at a resolution no camera or naked eye can reach.

We bring it to you. A certified SAM coach runs a full assessment at your home, with your own putter, in the environment where you actually practise. No studio, no travel, no guesswork — just your real stroke, measured properly, and explained in plain language.

THE INSTRUMENT
SAM PuttLab ultrasound unit
Two ultrasound transmitters clip to the putter shaft; the triangular receiver head tracks them through the stroke. The levelled tripod base keeps the reference plane true, which is what allows the system to resolve face angle to a fraction of a degree — well past what any camera or naked eye can distinguish.

STEP 02

PUTTR
Most putting tech measures your stroke. PuttR measures the result.

Other tools report what the putter did at impact. Neither tells you what the ball actually did at the hole. PuttR captures the two things that decide a make: how fast the ball was rolling, and where it entered on a make or slid past on a miss — which is precisely the outcome data your SAM numbers are meant to move.

WHAT IT MEASURES
Speed and entry point, putt by putt
Every putt is graded on roll speed against holing pace and on where the ball crossed the hole line. A putt struck 19% too fast that still drops is logged as exactly that — a make you got away with. Over time the make percentage by break direction shows whether your misses are a start-line problem, a speed problem, or a read problem.

Putting practice is the rep most golfers skip. PuttR makes it something you want to do: real games with real stakes, played solo against your own numbers, head-to-head with a friend, or in online tournaments through PuttR Club. Consequence is what turns repetition into practice that transfers.

Speed & Holing Feedback
The parabolic trainer only returns a putt struck at true holing pace. Too soft and it stays put; too firm and it rejects. It turns speed — the hardest variable to feel — into an unmistakable pass or fail on every stroke.
PuttR
Start Line & Consistency
A true, repeatable surface with a defined target gate. Because the roll is consistent, any miss is your start line rather than the surface — which is exactly the feedback loop your SAM numbers are built to improve.
What We Believe
The Natural Arc
We do not rebuild strokes. We remove the interference that stops yours from repeating.

Every putter swings on an arc. The putter shaft leans away from vertical, so the head travels on an inclined plane — inside on the way back, square through impact, inside again on the way through. That arc is geometry, not style, and the leading coaches in the game teach it as a consequence of good setup rather than a shape to be manufactured.

Forcing a straight-back-straight-through path against that geometry creates manipulation, and manipulation is what makes face angle inconsistent. So we work with your natural arc, and spend our effort where the strokes actually are: a square face and reliable speed.

The Method
Five Pillars

Everything we coach sits on five pillars, each drawn from the published work of the sport’s most rigorous minds — not opinion, not tradition.

1
Aim
Most golfers do not aim where they think they aim, and a stroke built to compensate for a mis-set body is a stroke that must fail somewhere. We measure true aim first, because everything downstream inherits it.
Orr · Pelz
2
Face
Face angle at impact governs roughly 83% of where a putt starts; path accounts for the rest. It is the single most powerful variable in putting, and the one no golfer can perceive without measurement.
Kenyon · Quintic · TrackMan
3
Speed
Speed sets the effective size of the hole, decides the correct line, and determines how far the misses finish from it. Direction without speed control is half an answer — and lag distance is where amateurs leak most strokes.
Pelz · Broadie
4
Arc
A stroke that moves on its natural plane repeats without conscious steering. We build a motion that is simple enough to hold up under pressure, then leave it alone.
Kenyon · Utley · Stockton
5
Process
A repeatable read and routine, judged on execution rather than whether the ball drops. Holed putts are a noisy scorecard; process is the only thing you can actually control and improve.
Faxon · Rotella · AimPoint
Measured, Not Guessed
Every pillar above is assessed with numbers, re-tested after training, and reported back to you. That is the whole difference.

Our Story

Not For Profit
Quantum
Putting
Dedicated to my Dad
Quantum Putting practice setup
The Origin

Quantum Putting grew out of one of the worst putting spells of my golfing life. After a heated debate with my Dad — and a nagging belief that we constantly make decisions on imperfect information — I decided to stop guessing and start researching.

The Belief

My view is that putting doesn't need innovation — it needs clarity. There are already plenty of excellent training aids out there, and the knowledge base is vast and freely available. It's not like Tiger Woods' putting methodology is a secret. The problem isn't access to information. It's making sense of it.

Enter Bones AI

I built Bones AI to curate and make sense of everything I was learning — turning scattered reference material into structured, data-driven insight. The result: a tool to log your misses, find your patterns, and practice with purpose.

The Bigger Picture

We live in a remarkable era. AI doesn't replace human skill — it amplifies it. The combination of great practice tools, good data, and a willingness to learn is more powerful than anything that's come before. That's what Quantum Putting is built on.

I hope you find this useful. Good luck with your putting.

Steve
